I certainly do! Every time I see a picture of a nice, neat model home with its beautiful, perfectly placed furniture...I want to move in ASAP. My imagination INSTANTLY starts to wander. I can SEE myself in that beautiful home. It does not matter whether that home is as nice as my current home or not...it is neat and clean! I can imagine myself there. As soon as I start mentally moving in my kids and the toys...then the house does not look as appealing.
Psychology is a funny thing. The psychology of a "perfect home" is a very powerful thing. The truth is that it is rare that I walk into a home that looks like the model homes. The builders have this down, perhaps because no one really lives in the home. Individual owners usually do not. I have never walked into a builder model home and not been able to imagine living in it. THAT is showing perfection. THAT is what you should try to attain.
If you are selling your home, please understand the importance of having your home picture perfect including fixing, or touching up, wear and tear items. You need your home to have the same effect on buyers that builder model homes do. If someone walks in and sees your mess and signs of living...buyers are not as likely to find your home appealing.
In the current Jacksonville real estate market it is hard to make your home stand out. You have an uphill battle due to the competition. The most important two items for a seller are pricing and perfection. Perfection can be there, but if the price is not appealing...you will not sell your home. Price can be right...but if the home does not show well you will probably not sell at market value. If the home does not show well you will have to go below market value to capture a buyer.
